I enjoyed OC & Lau! The food was great! I enjoyed the pineapple smoothie especially. Make sure to join the online waitlist, so you don’t have to wait outside for extended periods of time. The only downside was that the table next to me was so loud! It disturbed me how rude they were. Besides that, awesome experience!

OC & Lau is a hidden gem for authentic Vietnamese seafood. The ingredients are exceptionally fresh, the flavors are bold and vibrant, and every dish is packed with character. The seafood is prepared with great care, allowing its natural quality to shine while being enhanced by rich, well-balanced seasonings. If you’re looking for fresh seafood and robust Vietnamese flavors, OC & Lau is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

As a photographer from Vietnam visiting California, I am always curious about places that preserve the flavors and spirit of Vietnamese culture abroad. Ốc & Lẩu in Garden Grove was a wonderful surprise. The restaurant was very busy when I arrived, which is usually a good sign, but what impressed me most was how quickly the food was served. Despite the crowd, the service remained efficient and organized. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, making it easy to explore different flavors of Vietnamese cuisine. More importantly, the taste felt authentic. From the seasoning to the overall dining experience, it reminded me very much of home. Nothing felt adjusted or diluted for tourists. It was comforting to find a restaurant where the flavors, atmosphere, and energy brought back memories of home. The first thing you notice at Oc & Lau isn’t the decor—it’s the sound of people eating like they mean it. This is not a polished, candlelit experience. This is stainless steel, sizzling burners, clattering plates, and tables packed shoulder-to-shoulder with people who came here for one reason: to eat unapologetically good Vietnamese seafood. The kind of place where conversations get louder as the table fills, where the air smells like grilled shellfish, chili, and fish sauce, and where hesitation is your only real mistake. We started with the fresh spring rolls—delicate on the outside, but packed with intention. The rice paper was soft and slightly tacky to the touch, clinging to shrimp that were sweet and snappy, layered with crisp greens and vermicelli that still had bite. But the real story sat in that small bowl on the side: a dipping sauce loaded with fried shallots and chili, glistening like it knew it was the main character. Sweet, salty, spicy, and just funky enough to keep you leaning in. Each bite wasn’t just refreshing—it was addictive. Escargot in butter is my fav dish here. Mango squid salad is a classic. Razor clams also delicious. Sweet and sour fish is surprisingly a spectacle, loaded with fruits and kind of a twist on the flavor too.
